It’s so easy to just assume you are tight because well, that’s what your body is telling you, why would it lie? But the body is so much more complicated than that, especially the hips.
And hey, I get it – I used to feel tight all the time when I was a young ballet dancer. Since I felt tight, I assumed that meant my muscles were tight. Considering I could relax and read a book in an oversplit should have been a sign that even though I felt like I needed to stretch constantly, it wasn’t the answer to my problems.
Looking back at the situation now, I know exactly what my body was missing.
